The Strand and Rock pool
Take a relaxing walk along our beautiful beachfront, swim in the Rock pool or swimming enclosures. Cotters Market is held in the Flinders Street Mall every Sun morning. It features stalls selling local craft and fresh fruit and vegetables. The Strand Night Market is held on the first Friday of the month from May-Dec. Sunday Markets also at Willows Shopping Center.

Magnetic Island is just 25 minutes from Townsville with Ferry Services departing throughout the day. Buy a ferry and bus pass, take a tour or hire a car to explore the island or just swim, snorkel and relax on some of the best beaches in Nth Qld. Excellent restaurants open for lunch or dinner.
Riverway Lagoons are nestled among shady raintrees, with the picturesque Ross River providing a peaceful backdrop. The raintrees, together with the extensive overhangs of the Riverway Arts Centre roof and additional shade structures, provide a protected year-round safe swimming environment. The upper lagoon has an area for swimming laps and specific areas for disabled and elderly access, with hand rails and suitable water levels. The lower lagoon is an ideal place for the kids to build sand castles and play in shallow water. Take a picnic or eat at the poolside cafe. Free BBQ’s available.
Paluma Range National Park
Paluma is a very special part of North Queensland with its crystal clear water and wonderful rainforest setting. The scenic Mt Spec Rd leaves the Bruce Highway 60kms north of Townsville. Walking tracks wind through the National Park and Big and Little Crystal Creeks provide the most popular swimming holes in the area. Picnic, BBQ and toilet facilities are provided.
